![]() ![]() I just want to hold a regular controller and play. An otherwise great game that is hampered by some crappy design elements.Įdit- also I realize that you can play with the nunchuck, but I didn't feel like it was the better option. I'm not sure if I'll go through to unlock world 9 anytime soon, but I'd like to come back to it. I didn't realize that the other collectibles did anything besides unlock pictures of bananas. Any time they turn to disembodied hands I roll my eyes. The last boss really sucked for a finale. It's typical insert-me-anywhere background noise that could be in literally any game and you couldn't tell the difference. The sound effects and music are forgettable. Donkey Kong sounds like a person who's not even trying to do an ape impression. The "blowing on things" function shouldn't even be in the game, it's completely pointless. I don't know why the controls were so wishy-washy for this game. I felt like the button controls sometimes didn't respond, either. Sometimes your success depends on swinging the mote at the right time, which can be annoying. The Wii-mote is already too small, and the directional pad hurts your thumb after a while. Mainly the control bothers me, because you play with the sideways remote but still have to swing it around. However, I do have a few nitpicking issues with it. The level design is really creative and just begging for speedruns, if that's your thing. It got me yelling "bullshit" at the TV and smacking my couch, which a game hasn't done to me in a long time. It was just what I wanted to play, classic side-scrolling with a good challenge. The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games ListĪnd let me say I didn't realize that the Kong letters unlocked world 9, so I am kind of pissed that I didn't do that. I'd love to see this game in 1080p, maybe with some TF assets, touched up music (pipe dream I know), a rock solid 60fps, and a FUNKY MODE lol.A gaming sub free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. The budget was clearly higher and I think a little more effort was put in. The music was really good IMO, though obviously TF outdid it. It certainly sold a heck of a lot better! I think for that reason there's probably people out there who preferred Returns to TF. The level design was solid, it was packed with levels, and it was the first time in many years we saw a 2D DK like the DKC games. I think you could even make an argument that Returns is better. This is the USA version of the game and can be played using any of the Nintendo Wii emulators available on our website. Now, I still think TF ended up being the better game by quite a bit, but Returns really was no slouch either. Have fun playing the amazing Donkey Kong Country Returns game for Nintendo Wii. Why no Switch version? I haven't played the game since it released on the Wii, I'd love to replay it again it was a great game. The Wii version sold very very well, and I imagine the 3DS one did alright. ![]() I know it was already ported over to the 3DS and got rid of the forced motion stuff, but why not remaster it for the Switch? I never even thought about this until now. ![]()
